OK - I'm in the UK and we never got any of the PlayStation 2 games. PlayStation 2 is not import friendly but I'll be tackling Tears and Wind relatively soon (will be skipping the spin - off's Neo and EXA though) If your curious about Sawada's Shining series you get what you invest in it I think - Watching the animations of Hearts and Tears X Wind is a good start. The PSP games Hearts, Blade and Ark are really cheap to find and Blade has a translation to enjoy with what feels like the most authentic 'New' Shining game. I think Blade Arcus (the beat 'me up) ties up the series and is available in English on Steam. Resonance as far as can tell is set in Sawada's Shining Universe but has little to no story connection so is probably ideal in some sense for a universal re-release and familiarise/introduce the series to people outside Japan.

I think maybe one character is in Blade Arcus. The obvious difference is the high level of Asian (Japanese) Characters transported to a fantasy realm (Endias or maybe End Earth) similar to Dungeon's&Dragon's 80's Saturday TV show if that defines this reboot in some way. If you put the time in and open your eyes they are actually pretty good! I think Resonance skips the Japanese School kids trapped in a fantasy realm and just keeps with the loreley / dragon god setting with a musical vibe maybe similar to Eternal Sonata. You might notice T2 the main artist never does cover work depicting battles like the old games. Free spongebob download. More characters and romance/relationships and whilst this plays a big part in the games Blade/Ark and even Hearts are still tactical battle RPG's. Japanese culture is way more prevalent in Sawada's reboot - unlike Camelot's where they appeared more novelty/class varient/character trope.

Sorry if you know all this already! I'm not really interested in the PSP games at all and those will likely never be localized anyway what with the Vita being dead. Tears is god awful because of the framerate and slowdown in battle, I don't remember if they fixed that in wind or not, couldn't play much of either one honestly. Neo is also not very good but Exa is a surprisingly good action RPG from what I remember, well at least for its time I haven't played it since it came out so its likely pretty dated.
