Largest Snake Ever Photographed
According to this report, the longest live snake ever measured was a reticulated python at 33 feet long. The extinct Titanboa is the longest snake known to man, and was 42 feet long. There were “countless reports from the Kamina area of giant snakes.” So, along with the colonel’s sighting and photos, and the CIA analysis, it’s a wonder there wasn’t a search for the creature carried out. A large rattlesnake was caught on camera slithering across a road in Florida.
I have seen quite a few Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes in my day but this one was the largest I have ever had the chance to photograph in the wild. I would guess this snake was about 4 to 4.5' long and posed for the camera quite well.

Some friends of mine from up North were in town so I took them out to a known den site and we took some pictures of a couple of rattlesnakes that we found there. When I laid my snake hook down (Matt got photos of this) the snake was at least a foot and a half longer than my 30' blue snake hook from Midwest Tongs.
This was the largest Western Diamondback I have ever found in the wild. I have seen many that were larger that were caught by other people but never one this big in my regular spots for this species. I am so happy I was able to get this footage in early summer of 2018 and I look forward to viewing this video years later. While not endangered, the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake is losing much of its territory to habitat destruction and is still hunted in Oklahoma and Texas. Many snakes are also killed while crossing the roads to move away from and back to their den sites. These animals need all the help we can give them, so let's help them out! It's obvious from this video that if you give them plenty of room they will not strike at you and would rather flee than fight!
